An exhibition of Bronze, Silver and Glass sculpture
We at Gallery 109 are thrilled to present an exhibition of sculpture from the studio of Andrew Lacey
Andrew Lacey is a sculptor/founder and independent scholar who specializes in bronze casting and the reconstruction analysis of sculpture. His particular approach to building sculpture and exploring the nature of materials is influenced by historic and archaeological study. It’s the desire to create modern relevant art works whilst understanding and celebrating tradition that makes Andrew Lacey’s sculpture so desirable and collectable.
Andrew’s sculpture stems from a figurative tradition, heavily influenced by Classical and Renaissance equestrian sculpture. He casts his own work in bronze, silver and glass. This engagement with the casting process enables creative interception at any stage and leads to a lively exploration of the making of sculpture. His manner is spontaneous, experimental and focused.
Andrew is much sought after for his sculptural research and reconstruction analysis for museums,
is part of a visiting lecturer programme at Cambridge University, UCL, The V&A and the Venetian Renaissance Bronzes Project
All Andrews work is conceived, cast and finished in his Devon studio. Works are in small world wide editions.
We very much hope you will be able to visit the exhibition. Viewing outside normal business hours by arrangement. We, as always, will have a fine collection of Modern British paintings on show, including a number of original works from LS Lowry.
